Celebrate Earth Day on Governors Island! Featuring free activities for all ages, including ecological stewardship, walking tours, an Island-wide scavenger hunt, seedball workshops, a tree stamping art activity, climate tech demos, DJ sets, community science exhibits, and more.
Earth Day is presented by the Trust for Governors Island. Additional event partners: Billion Oyster Project, Earth Matter NY, the Lower Eastside Girls Club, NYC Bird Alliance, Street Lab, The New York Climate Exchange, Rego, RETI Center, itselectric, Seaweed City, Biohabitats, CarbonCLAIR, Circular Economy Manufacturing, and more to be announced. Featuring food from Makina Café and Little Eva’s.
EVENT SCHEDULE

- 10AM-3PM: EXPLORE pop-up nature exhibit and READ pop-up reading room with Street Lab, tabling with the Trust for Governors Island climate piloting partners
- 10AM-2PM: Volunteer project with Billion Oyster Project (at their shell pile)
- 10AM-12:30PM: Leading Climate Action by Residents for Residents with The New York Climate Exchange and Public Housing Community Fund (Building 309)
- 11AM: Climate tech demonstrations, tree sample printmaking with Governors Island Nature, volunteer project with Earth Matter
- 12PM: Guided tree tour with Governors Island Nature
- 12 – 4PM: Open [Block] House with the Institute for Public Architecture (Nolan Park Building 9)
- 12:30PM: Seed sowing volunteer stewardship with Governors Island Nature
- 1:45PM: Guided bird and tree tour with Governors Island Nature and NYC Bird Alliance
