The Student Efforts to Advance Sustainability New York (SEAS NY) Conference is a student-founded conference aiming to engage, inspire and empower students to enact sustainable change on campuses in New York State. This event will bring together students, faculty, and staff from universities across New York to learn about sustainability and different strategies for this important work, both from leaders in the field as well as current students who have had success with initiatives on their own campuses. The format will include professional speakers representing business, policy, non-profit, and Indigenous perspectives on sustainability, a keynote on youth climate activism, student-led discussion rooms, and an alumni panel.

While this is our first time running this event, the speakers and organizers are all very excited for the opportunity to connect our attendees with resources that can help them elevate their own impact on their respective campuses.

Speakers Include:

Jamie Margolin: Founder of the Zero Hour movement, author of Youth to Power: Your Voice and How to Use It, and a plaintiff on the Our Children’s Trust Youth v. Gov Washington state lawsuit

J.J. Huggins: PR & Communications at Patagonia

Ruchatneet Printup: Filmmaker and Member of Tuscarora Nation

Raya Salter: Policy Director for NY Renews & Member of the New York State Climate Action Council

Kevin Patel: Founder and Executive Director of One Up Action

Featured Campus Initiatives Include:

  • Going Herbicide Free
