This HeatSmart CNY workshop event is designed especially for architects, engineers, HVAC contractors, municipalities, commercial building owners, and multi-family dwelling developers. Come learn how incorporating a geothermal heat pump system into your new or existing commercial building or multi-family development project is becoming an increasingly popular option. Geothermal heat pumps are eco-friendly, they provide a comfortable, reliable heat for your tenants and employees, and the economic benefits of heat pumps mean your building will have low operating costs for decades.

Opportunities for federal, state and utility funding for undertaking energy efficiency measures and integrating renewable energy technologies in commercial and municipal facilities will also be discussed.

Presenters:

John D. Manning, PE has engaged in every aspect of heat pump design, marketing, application and system design. As founder of Earth Sensitive Solutions, LLC he has contributed to the successful application of geothermal heat pump technology from Port Augusta, Australia to Auburn, NY. Currently, he supports hundreds of geothermal contractors through Phoenix Energy Supply and Earth Sensitive Solutions.

Jens Ponikau is the co-owner of Buffalo Geothermal Heating, a geo design and installation firm that installs between 90-100 systems per year in Western NY. He is an International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) accredited geothermal installer and geoexchange designer with a doctoral degree from the University of Hamburg, Germany.

William Lupien, superintendent of engineering services for the City of Auburn, will talk about his experience as the end-user/building operator for the geothermal system installed in Memorial City Hall in 2003.
