Located outside of Auburn between Cayuga and Owasco Lakes in the Town of Fleming, this 2,000 sq ft Foursquare-style home built over 100 years ago is now super energy efficient!

Renovating this house presented the homeowners an opportunity to act on their concern about the environment and resource consumption, and improve their quality of life. They installed a geothermal heat pump for efficient home heating and cooling, and a heat pump water heater. Extensive insulation upgrades included spray foam and covering the exterior with 1″ foam board under new siding to create a blissfully quiet and energy efficient home.

They now have a beautiful home and their energy bills are even less than their previous home, which was heated with gas and half the size! They invite us to come and learn more about geothermal heating and what we can do to our own homes to make them more comfortable.

HeatSmart CNY open house events give you the opportunity to visit local homes with heat pumps in operation and talk to the homeowners and installers about the experience and the process. Tours start with an abbreviated introduction to the HeatSmart CNY campaign and run about 1 – 1.5 hours.
