The real estate partners in the Empire Building Challenge collectively control more than 130 million square feet of commercial and residential properties in New York State and are producing blueprints for how the City and State can retrofit existing buildings to carbon neutrality. NYSERDA is working with the private sector to move beyond simple payback analysis to allow value over time to guide investments and enable the efficient phasing of building improvements that enhance comfort and health while meeting the goals of our City and State climate action plans.
