Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) is a hot topic right now – there have been a flurry of various activities recently¹. As a community of practice focusing on carbon cycle science in North America and adjacent oceans, NACP is poised to make significant contributions in this arena as new programs are initiated and existing CDR activities expand and grow. Perhaps the most relevant area for NACP engagement is the development and implementation of robust measuring, monitoring, and verification (MMRV) for CDR activities, and we are planning an in-depth workshop on this topic in early 2023.

However, we recognize that CDR as a conceptual framework and practice may be relatively novel for many in the NACP community. Thus we are offering a “CDR Academy” that will offer introductory material on the basics of CDR in different Earth systems, including:
