Event Details

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 3:15 PM ET, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) will host a White House Electrification Summit to explore how electrification can help the United States meet its climate and equity goals. This event will convene energy and environmental leaders from government, industry, academia, and stakeholder groups to showcase the unprecedented opportunities for inclusive electrification created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act and have robust conversations about an updated electrification innovation strategy.

Electrification – replacing direct use of fossil fuels for transportation, heating, hot water, and cooking with more efficient electric options – coupled with clean electricity is one of five game-changing technologies prioritized by the Biden-Harris Administration to help us achieve net-zero by no later than 2050 while improving health, prosperity, and justice for all Americans. The pace of electrification hinges on institutional innovations as well as decisions made by individual households choosing their cars, heating and cooling equipment, and other appliances. The summit will focus on the innovation strategy – vehicles and appliances; grid and communication; and community and institutional – to make electric options the easy choice.
