Join BE-Ex and AKF Group for a live demonstration of the LL97 Carbon Emissions Calculator, an online tool that has helped over 20,000 building stakeholders understand the impact of Local Law 97 on their building portfolio.

In 2019, New York City Council passed the Climate Mobilization Act, a groundbreaking set of bills aimed at reducing building sector carbon emissions. The centerpiece of the legislative package, Local Law 97, requires buildings above 25,000 square feet to meet strict greenhouse gas emission limits starting in 2024. Non-compliant building owners will be subject to a penalty for emissions in excess of these limits.

This October, the NYC Department of Buildings issued proposed rules to LL97, providing clarifications to the law and its implementation, including: aligning building property types with those from EPA Portfolio Manager, establishing building emissions limits to 2050, and establishing a 2030 electricity carbon coefficient that encourages electrification and reflects the New York State’s commitment to green the grid.
