The Sustainable Futures Conference is a four-day event that will mainstream public discourse around the concept of sustainable practice.

About this Event

Overview

Featuring over a dozen international and national speakers, the conference will illuminate how sustainability and resilience are multi-sector issues woven into all aspects of civic life, including economic development, housing, health, design, urban ecology, and education. The conference will place particular emphasis on equity and climate justice, highlighting the implementation of New York State’s landmark Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) in the Capital Region.

Conference Components

Keynote Speakers: Featuring over a dozen international and national speakers

Community-Led Breakout Sessions: Highlighting sustainability work in the region

Youth Climate Congress: A showcase led by Capital Region students and youth

Innovation Salon: A tech fair demoing sustainable design & infrastructure breakthroughs (with sustainable wine drinking!)

Community Slack Channel: A community town hall space to network, connect, and share our work.

Hosts

The conference is being organized by The Future of Small Cities Institute and co-hosted by the University at Albany and the Center for Architecture, Science, and Ecology (CASE) at RPI.
