You are invited to join the WNY Youth Climate Council and strike with us again next Friday, March 20th for Buffalo Youth Climate Strike 2020 to mark the 1 year anniversary of Buffalo’s first Climate Strike and to ask our elected officials to address the climate emergency by passing a Climate Resolution.
We are excited to see you at the strike next Friday, and invite you to our Climate Resolution Public Meeting on Tuesday, March 31st from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Location TBA.
Additional updates on WNY Youth Climate Council and Declare a Climate Emergency Campaign:
1.) Over 2000 individuals and 20 local non-profit organizations and/or groups have signed on to support Declaring a Climate Emergency! Individuals can sign electronically by clicking HERE. Supporting organizations and groups are listed below. If you would like yours listed, please email emily.dyett@growwny.org.
2.) Declare a Climate Emergency Campaign was voted on to the Partnership for the Public Good’s Community Agenda for 2020. Each year, Partnership for the Public Good invites its partners to submit proposals for its Community Agenda and then vote to select the top ten which become the focus of their work for that year. Partners meet, collaborate, and consider ways to change local or state policies to advance equality, sustainability, and cultural vibrancy in the Buffalo Niagara region. Please read our proposal attached.
3.) Since February, WNY Youth Climate Council members have met with Buffalo Common Council members, Rivera, Bollman, Nowakowski, Wyatt, Golombek, and Scanlon to share the progress of their campaign, ask what their constituents would like to see in a Climate Resolution, and learn about what issues impact them the most.
