– Discuss the basic legal framework for performing site plan and special use permit review for solar projects
– Identify important substantive issues for reviewing boards to consider when reviewing and conditioning solar project approval
– Accounting for fire and building code compliance issues in approvals and approval conditions

Dwight Kanyuck, Knauf Shaw LLP
Dwight Kanyuck is an attorney with Knauf Shaw LLP in Rochester, which focuses its practice on environmental, renewable energy, land use, and municipal law. Dwight represents numerous municipalities in solar and wind energy project review proceedings pursuant to Section 94-c (ORES), Article 10, and local zoning.

Mary Steblein, LaBella Associates
Mary Steblein, PE, CPESC, is a Project Manager & Senior Civil Engineer at LaBella Associates. She has 20+ years of experience providing professional services to clientele including municipalities and private utility companies. Her project experience includes stormwater management design, utility design, erosion and sediment control design, obtaining permits and approvals, MS4 program assistance, and reviewing subdivision and site plan applications.
