As the energy storage industry continues its rapid expansion, it is critically important for stakeholders to have a thorough understanding of battery and energy storage safety. NY-BEST invites you to learn about this highly pertinent topic in our upcoming online educational course, “Cracking the Code: Mitigating Safety Risks in Battery Energy Storage” on April 20, 2023, from 1:00-2:30 PM EDT. This course will feature energy storage safety experts from DNV.
This battery energy storage safety course is designed to educate participants on the potential hazards associated with battery energy storage systems and how to mitigate them. The course covers topics such as battery chemistry, thermal runaway, fire suppression, and emergency response. Participants will learn about safety regulations and standards, best practices for installation, and potential battery hazards and their mitigations. The goal of the course is to educate on risks and mitigations to promote the safe operation of battery energy storage systems and to help prevent accidents and injuries.
Topics discussed will include:
- Current battery energy storage codes and standards
- An overview of UL 9540A testing standard
- Common fire safety features of BESS
- Modeling and Hazard Mitigation Analysis
- Emergency response planning
