Event Details

Students from all over the capital region are gathering for a march on Saratoga on the global climate strike date (March 15th) to push for state policy change and to demonstrate climate education. This event is open to anyone who wants to participate!

ITINERARY: Our rally will start in Congress Park in front of the Spirit of Life statue where we will hold intro speeches, at 1:10 we will walk down the east sidewalk of broadway, cross broadway before the City Center, and return to Congress Park on the west sidewalk of broadway. Following the march, which will end around 1:40PM, we will have speeches made by students and die-ins.

Our demands for this event include:
-A call upon Governor Cuomo to halt all New York State fossil fuel infrastructure permitting and expansion
-Limitation on investments of public pension funds in fossil fuel companies through the signing of NYS Senate bill S2126 (NYS Assembly bill A1536).
-Reintroduce NYS Senate bill S7645 which sought to transition NY to 100% renewable energy, create hundreds of thousands of jobs, protect workers currently in the fossil fuel industry and support the communities most impacted by climate change and pollution.
-A call upon all local corporations to divest from the fossil fuel industry and switch to sustainable infrastructure.
