The heart of Drawdown New York City‘s mission is to bring possibility and grounded optimism to the goal of reversing global warming, and then help people find their unique paths to support Drawdown solutions to do just that. That’s why we are thrilled to have Julie Tighe, President of the New York League of Conservation Voters, kick-off our virtual speaker series.
The NYLCV has played a major role in getting New York legislators to pass some of the most sweeping environmental policy in the country. They are the only statewide environmental organization in New York that fights for clean water, clean air, renewable energy, and open space, though political action. From the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which mandated that state-wide GHG emissions drop by at least 85% , getting rid of article 10 so we can build the renewable energy we need, and helping to properly fund city parks through their Play Fair initiative, the NYLCV has had remarkable success.
With 2020 presenting some huge opportunities to change the policies in this country, please join us for a chance to learn about how NYLCV has been so effective over the years and how it plans to apply its uniquely effective expertise in the coming year.
