Event Details

This workshop will explain how heat-vulnerable communities experience extreme heat and help equip them with health and disaster response skills to mitigate harm to their households and neighbors caused by extreme heat.
In addition to expanding their heat disaster toolkit, they’ll empower attendees to speak up in support of their right to cooling at home and in public spaces.
They’ll mobilize attendees to advance legislation codifying cooling centers, establishing an indoor max temperature, and coordinating an Urban Forest Master Plan to reduce heat-related illnesses and mortality. Light refreshments and Spanish interpretation will be provided.
