Learn how the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) can help pay for energy-saving home improvements as you transition to clean energy. Whether you own or rent your home, the IRA will soon provide upfront payments worth thousands of dollars for electrical service upgrades, home heating and cooling, electric vehicles, efficient appliances, and solar panels.
Joe Montuori of Sustainable Putnam will explain how to stagger and stage these improvements to maximize available incentives. Additional financial incentives from New York State and local utility programs will also be discussed, followed by a Q&A period.

Everything you wanted to know about owning and driving an electric vehicle in 2023. We’re pleased to be hosting Steve Wehr, a retired IBM engineer who has owned, charged, and driven electric vehicles for years. He spends all day reading about electric vehicles, charging, renewable energy, and battery technology, so you don’t have to!
Learn about EV range, batteries, charging at home, charging on the road, and the differences in driving an EV versus a gasoline or diesel vehicle. What financial incentives are available? Bring your questions. Get honest answers from a knowledgeable individual with personal experience.

You are probably interested in an electric car, but you also have questions. This presentation will give you an introduction to electric vehicles and how they work, and address (I hope) all the common concerns people have with buying an electric car. Updated for 2023 with the latest new EVs, tax credits, etc.
NYCP’s Clean Energy Coach, Steve Wehr, is a retired IBM senior engineer and electric vehicle enthusiast. Since he bought his first EV in 2019, he has written several papers, given classes and presentations on EVs and charging, and been published by Sustainable Hudson Valley. Steve spends all day reading about electric vehicles, charging, renewable energy, and battery technology, so you don’t have to.
