Energy Storage Project Financing 101
As New York moves towards meeting its ambitious energy storage goals, energy storage project developers will need a solid understanding of project finance principles to successfully deploy projects and seize the tremendous opportunities for energy storage in New York. NY-BEST is pleased to host the educational webinar “Energy Storage Project Financing 101” intended to provide an introductory level understanding of project financing for project developers. Richard Susalka, Partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, a leading legal firm with extensive experience in renewable energy projects, will lead this engaging course.
“Energy Storage Project Financing 101” will be held on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 2:00 – 3:30 EDT. This course will provide attendees with a solid understanding of the complexities of project financing energy storage projects. This 90-minute webinar will conclude with a Q&A period.
Topics discussed will include:
- Key players in an energy storage financing, and their respective roles
- Developer; offtaker; investors (project equity and/or tax equity); lenders; site lessors; equipment suppliers; EPC contractors; and O&M contractors
- How the three relevant project stages (i.e., development, construction, and operations) are viewed from a financing perspective.
- Common project financing structures
- Discussion of the role the Inflation Reduction Act and other market developments are having on their evolution
- Key considerations in developing a financeable project, including:
- What to expect during financing due diligence and document negotiation
