Event Details
As climate change leads to more severe weather and related power outages, we will need to find new strategies to make communities more resilient. Power outages are especially dangerous to people who rely on powered medical equipment, such as ventilators and oxygen concentrators; people who need refrigeration for temperature-regulated medication, such as insulin; mobility-impaired residents who need elevators to safely enter and leave their homes; and heat-sensitive people who cannot withstand extreme heat or cold.
This webinar will highlight efforts to develop mobile resilient energy systems that can be transported to neighborhoods where the power is out, to support medically vulnerable and electricity-dependent residents. Presenters from Together New Orleans and Footprint Project will share their experience deploying mobile solar+storage trailers to vulnerable populations following a disaster, and explore how these strategies can be used to support electricity-dependent populations moving forward. In addition, Clean Energy Group’s Marriele Mango will discuss how CEG’s Technical Assistance Fund supports early-stage resilient power initiatives in disadvantaged communities.
Panelists:
• Imre Gyuk, DOE-OE
• Jamie Swezey, Footprint Project
• Broderick Bagert, Together New Orleans
• Asia Ognibene, Together New Orleans • Marriele Mango, Clean Energy Group
• Todd Olinsky-Paul, Clean Energy Group / Clean Energy States Alliance (moderator)
• Gabe Epstein, Clean Energy States Alliance (host)
This webinar is a presentation of the Energy Storage Technology Advancement Partnership (ESTAP). ESTAP is a federal-state funding and information sharing project that aims to accelerate the deployment of electrical energy storage technologies in the U.S. ESTAP is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electricity, managed by Sandia National Laboratories, and administered by the Clean Energy States Alliance. Event Details
As pressure to respond to climate change intensifies, there is increasing urgency to change our energy systems and energy practices. Visions of the energy future are changing, and new imaginaries – values and symbols through which people imagine their social whole – are emerging alongside innovative approaches to technology. Around the world, people are seeing new possibilities in digitization and automation. Some are promoting a world reliant on data analytics. Others desire a retreat from grids and networks in favor of self-reliance. A global shift to electrification, and diversification of electricity production, has material impacts on energy practices at all scales. It is time to rethink the ways energy is and will be sourced, shared, and used.
Join BECC for a webinar to learn about future imaginaries of energy. Attendees will hear from editors of the new book Energy Futures as they look at how ethnographic methods provide new knowledge about imagined and possible approaches to energy within the context of emerging technologies, Anthropocene challenges, and everyday realities.

The New Energy New York initiative, led by Binghamton University, is seizing on a unique and timely opportunity for New York State to establish itself as leader in domestic battery and energy storage manufacturing.
New Energy New York was selected for funding under the Build Back Better Regional Challenge. The goal of the program, which is supported with $113 million in federal, state and partner funding, is to develop new facilities and resources in New York State to help the U.S. meet the demand for domestic battery products and create an important competitive edge for U.S. companies in battery development and manufacturing.
The growth rate of the energy storage industry is unprecedented, projected to create hundreds-of-thousands of jobs by 2030. NY-BEST and the New Energy New York partners are working to position New York to capitalize on this growth.
Join NY-BEST for this FREE one-hour webinar to learn more about this exciting program and the economic development opportunities it will create for New York State. The speakers will provide an overview of the opportunities for unprecedented economic growth around companies engaged in battery and energy storage system manufacturing and supply chain.
Topics will include:
- What is the scale of the opportunity for battery and energy storage manufacturing in the state?
- What types of companies will the NENY Supply Chain program attract and what are their needs?
- What makes an ideal site for a manufacturer in this sector?
- How can companies and organizations engage with the NENY team and capitalize on the opportunities?
- What resources are available to support companies and organizations around this opportunity?
Speakers to include:
- John Cerveny, Sr. Director and Program Manager NENY Supply Chain, NY-BEST

Event Details
US public school buildings play a critical role serving both students and community members. However, more than 40 percent of school districts need significant updates or replacements to their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Fortunately, advances in technology and new financial resources mean that school leaders have an opportunity to pursue more efficient and effective HVAC equipment.
RMI and UndauntedK12’s new report HVAC Choices for Student Health and Learning: What Policymakers, School Leaders, and Advocates Need to Know makes the case for adopting all-electric, high-performance HVAC systems in new and existing schools. These modern systems — most often featuring electric heat pump technology as a centerpiece — will best support student health, comfort, and learning, while lowering energy costs and minimizing climate pollution.
This webinar is meant for a broad K-12 audience. Attendees will hear from five expert speakers: the report authors, Emma Hines (RMI) and Sara Ross (UndauntedK12); Dr. Erika Eitland (Perkins&Will); Julia Casagrande (NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice); and Brian Turner (CMTA). Together they will share an overview of the report and present on 1) the research connecting HVAC systems to student health, learning, and equity; 2) the nation’s largest school electrification effort in NYC; and 3) using Inflation Reduction Act funds for HVAC investments.

Join RMI for a webinar to learn about the Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment Program (EIR), a federal loan program established to support the shift to cleaner energy and revitalize communities. The program offers a unique opportunity to invest in renewable energy sooner rather than later and drive long-term community economic development beyond the energy sector.
Through the EIR, utilities can access low-cost loans to save money on financing and invest in clean energy. The program also offers the ability to pay off retiring energy infrastructure, lowering long-term energy costs for customers. The EIR can also be used to remediate environmental damage, which would improve the health outcomes of local communities and provide even more employment opportunities.
The EIR offers a win-win scenario that can lower customer energy bills while allowing utilities to reinvest in clean energy and transmission upgrades. Register now to learn more about the potential of the EIR to revitalize communities.
