Sign an email to the NYS Assembly today to reform renewable siting for clean jobs and a healthier NY! 

Over the next ten years, we must show that we can turn the bold promises of the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) into action and achieve our climate goals, including the goal of 70% renewable electricity by 2030.

The current siting process for utility-scale wind and solar projects is simply not working. Currently it takes new projects 5-10 years to get built and in the past 8 years, only 5 projects have even been approved with one under construction. At this rate there is simply no way we will be able to meet our clean energy goals.

As the Corona health crisis becomes an economic crisis it is even more important that we ensure the job creation and economic stability that renewable energy projects can bring. Particularly, the 67 solar and wind projects that have been awarded state contracts, and are waiting for permits to be built.

Clean electricity not only creates jobs but also cleaner air for a healthier New York! 

That’s why we need to email our state representatives, specifically the NYS Assembly, to support reforms to the siting process in the final budget.

Dear Assembly Member,

First of all, thank you for your leadership in this challenging time. I hope you and your family are healthy. I write to urge you to include the proposed reforms to large-scale renewable energy siting in the final state budget.

As the health crisis becomes an economic crisis it is even more important that we ensure the job creation and economic stability that renewable energy projects will bring. Particularly, the 67 solar and wind projects that have been awarded state contracts, and are waiting for permits to be built.

In order to meet the goal of 70% renewable electricity by 2030 included in the 2019 climate law, we will need to build the existing projects in the siting process as quickly as we can. Clean electricity also means cleaner air and a healthier New York!
