Can electric vehicles play a role in advancing equity in underserved and historically marginalized communities?
A new report published by Clean Energy Group, Electric Vehicles and Equity: How EVs Work, Their Pros and Cons, and the Role They Can Play in Making Our Communities Stronger, explores this question in four parts. The report begins with an overview of electric vehicle costs, performance characteristics, and environmental and health impacts, then considers possible pathways for electric vehicles to deliver tangible benefits to communities, including electric school buses and harnessing energy stored in electric vehicle batteries to power critical services in an emergency. It concludes with a discussion of some of the challenges limiting equitable adoption of electric vehicles and potential solutions to help overcome them.
Clean Energy Group is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, June 6 with report author Michael Brower of Cantus Firmus Consulting and Nathan King from electric vehicle charging company Itselectric. Panelists will discuss potential pathways for electric vehicle deployment to lower harmful emissions, reduce transportation expenses, and increase energy resilience in historically marginalized communities. Event Details
Join Mothers Out Front for this in-depth two-part virtual training designed by AORTA (Anti Oppression Resource and Training Alliance) & MOF staff and members. They will explore the ways that the call for racial justice is inherent to our call for a livable climate.
This training is for all active members, allies, and new members.
This is a two-day training with both parts intended to be taken together.
Let’s build a shared understanding and get on the same page about the critical intersections between racism and climate change as we build our movement at Mothers Out Front.
By committing to:
- Come prepared and participate in a training that is steeped in learning, tools for assessment, and practice that supports participants to feel ready to enact racial justice values in their MOF work.
- Unpack together some of the common ways that systemic racism, which permeates our society, shows up in our organizing.
- Learn our MOF systems framing and collective ways we can work to disrupt those patterns as we build powerful multi-racial, multi-class groups positioned to win a sustainable world for our families and communities.
