20sep6:30 pm8:00 pmLong Islanders for Climate Justice Meeting

Event Details

“Long Island is home to over 7 million people and is at tremendous risk for disaster due to climate change. I am reaching out because this past year, Long Island decision-makers failed us. Long Island legislators failed to pass the Climate and Community Investment Act that promised to fund climate mitigation and invest in frontline communities of color. And our power authority failed to invest in public power that would benefit us all while ignoring public outcry against the mismanagement of PSEG after Tropical Storm Isaias.

As a community, we must come to strategize and take action, because our legislators have proven they won’t do so alone.

On September 20th, at 6:30 will be hosting our first meeting since our summer recess. This is a great meeting for new or interested members since we will be doing a review of the past year and strategizing for the future. We will be planning our next steps in pursuing public power on Long Island and getting the CCIA passed in New York State.”
