This July, ACE NY kicked off its “Summer of Shovels” campaign to mark what is on track to be the largest buildout of new energy generation in New York State history. Counting projects already under construction and those breaking ground this season, we will see 2,600 megawatts of utility-scale wind and solar, 1,700 megawatts of offshore wind, and 1,000 megawatts of distributed solar generation. That’s enough to power more than five million homes with locally sourced, price-stable electricity, while employing tens of thousands of New Yorkers and representing billions of dollars in private investment.
